    Abstract: The advantages of carbon materials and Al2O3 as catalyst support were complementary,and anew Mn-Ce /C -Al2 O3 catalyst was developed by wrapping carbon on the outer side of Al2 O3. Theeffects of preparation parameters on the degradation of organic compounds in simulated cokingwastewater containing phenol were studied,and the stability of the catalyst was investigated. The resultsshowed that the specific surface area of the catalyst increased by 26.36% after carbon loading with 6%glucose solution. The Lewis acid point provided by the loading of manganese promoted the process of o-zone activation to ·OH,and cerium enhanced the catalytic effect of manganese. When the ratio of Mnto Ce was 4 ∶ 1 and the baking time was 4 hours at 450 ℃,the degradation rates of COD,TOC andUV254 could reach 85.52%,86.06% and 90.96%,respectively. In 10 degradation experiments,the CODremoval efficiency of the catalyst was stable,with an average of 77.5%. Mn-Ce /C-Al2O3 catalyst hadgood catalytic activity and stability. Close-
