    Abstract:

The ability to produce high-grade fuels and chemicals by reutilizing CO_2 is becoming indisputably realizable thanks to the development of knowledge of certain mechanisms and progress in the ability to use existing technologies. The current atmospheric concentration of CO_2, its environmental impacts, and the increasing levels of human activity stimulate the development of reliable and affordable renewable clean fuel technologies, based on CO_2 conversion, for achieving the closing of the carbon cycle. Meeting this goal is of great importance, but doing so is full of challenges in relation to prospects for global application. The fundamentals of thermo-catalytic conversion of CO_2 and the key materials and systems needed have led to considerable research attention in the context of creating clean industrial feedstock, a greener economy, and a protected environment. This article investigates recent progress in CO_2 thermo-catalytic conversion mechanisms. The combination of CO_2 feed with other reactive gases, such as H_2O, CH_4,and renewable H_2 could be able to achieve high levels of CO_2 reuse, thanks to the higher conversion kinetics and much more thermodynamic favorability at milder operating conditions.
